PurePiscator is produced from the efforts of a rag-tag group of normal, everyday anglers, referred to collectively as 'The Work Party'. Saltwater or Fresh, Coarse, Game or Sea, traditional or modern, here it matters not, the idea is simply to create a varied collection of articles and writings from across the angling world.
Once upon a time, there was an internet site called PurePiscator. As many stellar objects do, it shone brightly for a time and then waned to a still-visible, but dormant state. Now, like a phoenix from the ashes, the spirit of PurePiscator rises again. Ah, smell that garlic bread. The baton has been passed, so salutations to John for all his vision and sheer hard work. Although this new site has many characteristics of PP Mark I, it is not PP Mark II. It is a new entity, although I cannot help but ponder, should we get to Mk IV, whether it might be made of cane.
This new venture is called Piscatoribus Sacrum. As any fule no, this is the inscription above the door of Charles Cotton’s Fishing Lodge by the River Dove in Beresford Dale.
The good news is that nothing radical is going to occur. The aim will be to continue with the style and ethos of PurePiscator – why change a winning formula? Obviously there will be some subtle changes (eg. a blog section and RSS feeds for the technically-minded), but nothing to alarm regular visitors. In due course the Forum will move here, too.
Hopefully this new site will continue to reflect all that is positive about the pastime of angling, reminding us of its purer virtues and that a little bankside etiquette still has its place. We hope that it will be like tuning an old radio, and finding a previously unknown station wherein lie hidden treasures, such that in future you gravitate back to that point on the dial for more. So welcome to you, come in, relax and enjoy.
'The Work Party'
PS the site is about 80% complete but we have decided to launch it anyway. More content and new sections will appear shortly, but having promised it for so long, we felt the time was right to release it from its keepnet. Thanks are due to many contributors:
- John for allowing us to use content previously published on PP
- Nick, Dave, Graeme and John for photography
- Michael for champing at the bit to provide new content
- Phil for coming up with the name for the new site
- Danny(Blatant) at Blatant Websites for building the thing.
